Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to Buffalo

The Canisius women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to the University at Buffalo Sunday afternoon, moving their record to 1-2-2 on the season.

The Golden Griffins kept things close throughout the game recording 11 shots, four of which were on goal.

The Griffs had a key offensive chance to potentially tie the game late in the first half, but it was called back on an offside.

Taylor Kugler and Emma Westwater each recorded three shots in the game to lead the Griffs, while Lindsey Vaughn had two.   

The Buffalo offense attacked the Griffs goalkeeper Kailee DeFranks early and often posting 20 shots overall.

The Bulls scored a goal in each half and had several more scoring opportunities that were thwarted by Canisius.

The Griffs will look to get back on track when they travel to Farfield, Conn. to take on Sacred Heart, Friday at 3 p.m.

Game Notes:

The match, which was held at the Demske Sports Complex, was the 40th meeting between the two crosstown rivals.  Canisius now holds a lifetime 12-25-3 record against the Bulls.
