The Canisus women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Quinnipiac this evening, moving their overall record to 4-10-2 on the year.
The contest was tied heading into the half, but a lob shot by Jess Gargan that sailed over the head of Canisius goaltender Kailee Defranks put the Bobcats on top 1-0 in the 53rd minute.
Quinnipiac would add on to their lead in the 71st minute, on a goal by Nadya Gill, which was placed into the upper left corner of the net.
The result would be cemented several minutes later on a strike in the 77th minute from Sarahkate Norton.
The Griffs continued their offensive woes as they created very few scoring chances on only four shots on goal.
On the defensive side of the pitch, the Griffs held their own playing a steady game throughout with the score not indicating their level of play.
"Both teams were struggling in attack," said head coach Todd Clark. "But I was happy in the midfield some of our team defending was as good as its been."
With the loss the Golden Griffins move to 2-5-0 in MAAC play this season, while holding a 2-3-1 record at the Demske Sports Complex.
The defeat leaves the Griffs with little room for error as they will most certainly need to win out in order to qualify for the MAAC playoffs.
"We'll continue to grow, we'll continue to fight, we have three games left and we have to win them all," pointed out Clark.
The first of the three remaining games will take place on the road next Wednesday against Niagara in Lewiston, N.Y.
