Senior forward Asani Samuels became the first player in the Canisius College men's soccer program's history to earn all-region accolades three times during his career, being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Northest Region Second Team.
One of the best to wear the Blue and Gold, Samuels collected NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region honors in each of the last two campaigns, being named to the third team in 2012 and the second team last season. Samuels set career highs with 19 points, eight goals and three assists in 2014. He finished the season ranked fourth in the MAAC in both points and goals, while his four game-winning tallies are tied for first in the conference and 24th nationally.
A two-time All-MAAC honoree, including first-team accolades in 2014, Samuels finished his career with 38 points, 16 goals and six assists. He ranks 10th in the school's record book with his 16 career tallies.
Samuels helped guide the Griffs to one of their most successful seasons in school history in 2014. The team posted a 9-6-3 record and matched the program record for wins in a season. Overall, 11 marks in the school's record book were set or matched during the 2014 season.
