Seven members of the Canisius
College softball program were named to the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches
Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete Team, the association announced
today. The 2012 NFCA scholar-athlete teams recognize thousands of
student-athletes representing more than 600 academic institutions at the NCAA
Division I, II, III levels, the NAIA level and junior college.
Juniors Jen Consaul and Valorie Nappo along with sophomore Michelle DelPrince were recognized by the NFCA for their work in
the classroom, as were former Griffs Lauren
Chris, Lizzy Gatto, Katie Lancellotti and Caroline Main.
The NCFA
honors student-athletes who are nominated by a member coach. To be eligible,
student-athletes must achieve a 3.50 grade point average or higher (on a 4.0
scale) during the 2011-12 academic year. This honor is the second
component of the NFCA academic award program. In late October the squads
with the highest GPAs in each membership category were recognized as 2012 NFCA
Top Ten All-Academic Teams.
