The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)
honored the Canisius College swimming and diving teams today, as both the men's
and women's teams have achieved Scholar All-American Status.
During the Fall 2010 semester the men's team earned a cumulative
grade point average of 3.02 while the women's team secured a GPA of 3.31.
The CSCAA presents the Team Scholar All American Award to
the college or university swimming and diving teams who earned a grade point
average of 3.0 or higher.
Canisius College receives this honor after having one of the
most successful MAAC Swimming and Diving Championship meets in the program's
history. The Griffs set 26 school-records between the two teams, while the
men's team had their first event championship since 1997 as sophomore Shawn Parkhurst placed first in the
1000-freestyle and 200-yard butterfly events earning two gold medals.
