Golf Looks to Improve on Second Round

Canisius senior Michael Knott shot a second-round 75 and the Golden Griffins tallied a team-score of 320 in the second round to earn a tie for 17th at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate Tournament in Verona, N.Y. Sophomore Michael Carrig posted a two-round total of 161 to tie for 53rd overall in the field.

Facing brisk temperatures and windy conditions on Turning Stone's highly-rated Kaluhyat Course in the first round, the Blue and Gold posted a team-score of 339, only to rebound for the team's 320 in the second round. In that second round, Knott fired a three-over par 75 and Carrig carded an 80. Fellow sophomore Ryan Bent also posted an 80 in the second round.

Purdue leads the 18-team field after the Boilermakers recorded a team-score of 593. Oakland's Jacob Ziegler will enter the final day with a three-stroke lead after he posted two-round score of 144, highlighted by his one-under 71 in the second round.

The third and final round will begin Monday morning at 7:30 a.m.
