Adam Jones Earns All-America Honors

Freshman midfielder Adam Jones garnered 2008 All-America honors by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA), becoming the first Canisius player in the program's history to earn All-America accolades. Jones, who received honorable mention to the team, was one of just three freshmen in the country to be named an All-American.

A first-team All-MAAC selection, Jones led the Griffs with 47 points and 38 goals during his rookie season to go along with nine assists. The Owen Sound, Ontario native led the MAAC and finished the season ranked 14th in the country with 2.38 goals per game. His goals per game mark also ranks first in the country by a midfielder. He netted at least one score in 15-of-16 games and tallied at least three goals 10 times, the most by a Griff since the 1990 campaign.

Jones led the Griffs' offense during the postseason, helping the team to its first-ever conference championship. The rookie posted a team-best eight points and seven goals during the MAAC Championship and earned All-Tournament accolades. Jones also netted Canisius' first-ever NCAA Tournament goal, tallying a score against third-seeded and eventual national champion Syracuse.

Jones was a key member of the most successful team in school history. The Griffs won a school-record 10 games, won the MAAC Championship for the first time in the program's history and advanced to their first-ever NCAA Tournament.
